LocationSouth-western Kenya in the Loita Hills Massif. Olarro, Maa (language of the Maasai) for "the buffalo", is 6,000 feet above sea level, nestled in the Enkijape hills about 200 km from Nairobi. Olarro is located within a large Group Ranch on a hillside overlooking the vast expanse of savannah with the Loita Hills beyond. Olarro sits along the corridor of the annual wildebeest migration and plays a significant role in the Greater Nguruman, Loita, Mara, and Serengeti ecosystems.
By air from Nairobi: The camp can be reached by a short 35-minute helicopter flight direct to Olarro helipads or a 45-minute scheduled/charter flight to Siana airstrip, followed by a 1½ hour road transfer to Olarro. By road from Nairobi: The approximately three-hour journey to Olarro is a visually stunning drive along the Great Rift Valley escarpment and then down across the valley floor and up into the Loita foothills. Alternately, if transferring from elsewhere in the Mara, Olarro is a scenic 1 ½ hour drive from the Sekenani gate of the Masai Mara Game Reserve.
